I love the archetypal material that Dali-Land contains: a primordial bird at top, a diving bird below, an infinity sign, a fish on the edge of the universe, a hand mirror and a blouse. Do you see others? What I find most amazing is that a close-up shot of water can contain symbols with meaning. I wonder how I saw this image on moving water, consciously or unconsciously. What internal sonar took me to this image? Is it synesthesia that explains why, in the absence of thought, I photograph that which is never hidden but usually unseen?

I took this image when I heard a yellow
chord in a minor key. To my surprise, it appeared a few years later in one of
my dreams. I was watching a sunset with friends
when I noticed, mixed in with the regular sailboats on the other
side of the pond, this reflection. There it was, a
two-dimensional rendering,
afloat, pretending to be the real thing. No one noticed but me and when
I next looked at its shimmering it winked back
at me.

This image showed up in a dream about a year after I took it. I was lying on my side watching a figure run in place next to my bed only the the figure was THIS image i.e. the figure had this image for its torso (it had no head) and it had three legs running one after the other in continuous motion. I recall thinking how tired I felt from the running though they weren't my legs. In the morning, I decided they were my legs or a version of my legs: and that the image had turned itself into a self-portrait by returning to me in a dream . . .

If you look to the right, do you see a woman singing? In many dreams, I am an incredible musician which is why I named this image, "I Dreamed I Could Sing.” This image is included in a wonderful book that explores dreams and the artists who have use them in their work in the twentieth century called Dreams 1900-2000: Science, Art, and the Unconscious Mind, edited by Lynn Gamwell.

I named this image for a dream I had about a flying zebra but when I look at it today, I see the face of a tiger. What I love about this game is that the focusing takes place not with the external eye but with the internal "I" (eye). What do you see? Turn it in all four directions and then ask again, what do I see? Your inner eye will find it.
